On July 30th, 2002 the Egyptian daily press published that H.E. the Prime Minister held a seminar at the ACA to provide more financial, training and technical facilities to the youth who are willing to work independently through establishing small projects.

The seminar reviewed the efforts exerted by the state to offer new job opportunities through establishing small projects and distributing agricultural lands in the framework of Mubarak’s National Project.

The seminar examined the obstacles that face the owners of the private projects. The suitable means to overcome such obstacles in the presence of the Ministers concerned.

The Prime Minister has given his instructions to solve the problems that prevent the youth from carrying out their own projects successfully. Therefore, such projects whether (agricultural or commercial) are considered an asset to the Egyptian economy.

At the end of the successful seminar the Prime Minister has promised to hold further seminars in an attempt to relive the burdens on the Egyptian people.

On July 3rd, & 4th, 2002 the Weekly Magazines ( EL Khamees ) and ( Akher Saah) published an interview with H.E. Gen. Hitler El Tantawy, the Chairman of the ACA on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the  ACA.

Gen. Tantawy stated that the successive generations at the ACA have exerted great efforts to establish the traditions and rules of combating corruption and monitoring the sound performance at the state administrative bodies. Moreover the Chairman emphasized that the ACA has neither arrested nor accused any person without having confirmed and positive evidence.

In the sphere of the ACA internal affairs the Chairman also added that the ACA spares no efforts to develop the techniques of carrying out operations, and promotes its performance to achieve more efficiency.

In this respect, Gen. Tantawy stated the ACA established Regional Offices in all different governorates of the ARE.

On June 30th, 2002 “ Nesif El Donia “ magazine published an article on the role of the ACA regarding reveling corruption cases. The article pointed out that the ACA upon seizing a criminal crime never differs between senior officials, key figure of society, low ranked officials and a citizen even they committed an offence of public fund.

Since the presidential decree of the reorganization of the ACA and resume its activities all categories of the society touched extremely successes in the sphere of achieving security and stability to the state and also to the citizens through carrying out its jurisdictions.

The editor of the article added that he touched himself the warm welcome from the members of the ACA to any citizen has a compliant and the exerted efforts to examine the compliant.

On June 21st, 2002 the Egyptian daily press published the ruling of the Supreme State Security Court regarding the bribe case at the Ministry of Economy.

Abdel Khalek EL Mahgoub, General Manager at the Ministry & Mohamed Refaat Bashier, Undersecretary of the Ministry and Abdel Aziz Zaky Imam, a Businessman were sentenced 10 years’ hard labor and were dismissed from their posts.

The first was obliged to pay L.E. 72 thousand as a fine and refund the same amount.

The second was obliged to pay L.E 12 thousands and refund the same amount.

The third was obliged to pay L.E 60 thousands.

The court sentenced 11 defendants 3 years’ imprisonment and acquittal 4 defendants.

The ACA had revealed that the first and the second defendants were refunding the seized hard currencies to the rest of the defendants in return bribes. Moreover, forgery the signatures of the Minister of Economy on the applications of refunding hard currencies.

On June 6th, 2002 the Egyptian daily press published the ruling of the Supreme State Security Court regarding the bribe case of the ex – governor of Giza.

Maher Aly Soliman El Gendy, Giza ex-governor was sentenced 7 years’ imprisonment and L.E. 2000 fine.

Aly Ismail Ibrahim, employee at the Illicit Gain Department, faced a sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment. He was also dismissed from his post and fined L.E. 2000.

The investigations of the ACA had revealed that Maher El Gendy, ex-governor of Giza was having bribes from some investors through an intermediary, Mohamed Fouda, the press secretary of the Minister of Culture to ratify projects at Giza governorates’ in addition abusing his authority.

On March 1st, 2002 the Egyptian daily press published the court ruling regarding the Custom case, where the ex- Minister of Finance and the President of Custom Authority had facilitated custom evasion to some importers.

Mohei EL Din El Garib, ex- Minister of Finance was sentenced 8 years’ hard labor.

 The court sentenced 3-11 years’ imprisonment to 5 defendants, 1 years’ imprisonment for one defendant and acquittal 3 defendants.

On November 19th, 2001 “ AL Akhbar” daily press published the ruling of the Criminal Court that sentenced Dr. Hany Abdel Gelel El Amary, the chairman of the Egyptian International Company for investments with 10 years’ hard labor and was obliged to refund L.E. 300 thousands, and also dismissed him from his post.

The investigations of ACA had detected that he had embezzled the same amount from the company funds and planned to embezzle L.E. 650 thousands.

On March 1st, 2001 the Egyptian daily press published that the ACA suppressed two trying from the compensation solicitors Mafia to cash unlawfully about L.E. 162 million.

Both of Bahha EL Meligy & Hussin Eweis Members of the People’s Assembly and Maher Aly Mohamed, Contractor and 5 solicitors and 2 of Registration Office employee were foraged a set of Official Attorney from Khalil Sarsak and Fouad Habeab Lotfiy Alla to the benefit of the above mentioned solicitors, in an attempt to get compensations amounting L.E. 162 million from some of governmental agencies.

On Feb 26th, 2001 AL Ahram & EL Goumhoria newspapers published the ruling of the Criminal Court of Cairo that sentenced Ahmed Abdel Rahman Soliman, Secretary of South Cairo Court 5 years’ imprisonment and dismissed from his post. And also obliged him to pay L.E. 61625400 as a fine and refund the same amount, in addition confiscating 275 trucks.

On June 26th, 2000 the Egyptian daily press published the ruling of the court regarding the case of “ Deputies Loans “.

The court sentenced

14 defendants 10 years’ hard labor, including 4 Peoples’ Assembly Member.

7 defendants 5 years’ hard labor.

5 defendants 1 year imprisonment.

3 defendants 15 years’ hard labor ( in absence )

Dismissed Alia EL Ayoty, Deputy Chairman of Bank El Nile.

The defendants had seized loans and credit facilities amounting L.E. 938 million without having sufficient guarantees.
